Shelly DeViller
Executive Director
Shelly DeViller joined STEPS on Arthur as Executive Director in June 2026. She coordinates the Board's strategic direction with staff, community partners, and the people STEPS serves or, as she puts it in four words, helps with “keeping it on the rails.”
Shelly holds a Youth Worker diploma and brings 13 years of experience as a Continuing Care Assistant in acute and long-term care. She has more than 20 years of leadership experience with Colchester County 4-H and has served in Executive Director roles with the Colchester Food Network and United Way Maritimes. Shelly is passionate about caring, collaborative communities and creating the conditions for others to step into leadership. Her years in 4-H have strengthened her belief in the motto “Learn to Do by Doing” and in the power of hands-on experience to build strong leaders.
What Shelly values most about STEPS is its welcoming spirit. She hopes everyone who enters a STEPS space or welcomes STEPS into theirs, feels wanted and included. She also admits to loving a good hit of dopamine and the wonderfully messy work-life balance that comes with wearing more than one hat.

Betty Davis
Operations Manager, Rotary House
Betty Davis has been part of STEPS on Arthur since 2005. As Operations Manager at Rotary House, she coordinates client services, programming, and admissions and works closely with instructors to create opportunities for further training, employment, and access to community resources.
Betty studied at St. Thomas University and NSCC and previously worked as a community support worker. She brings dedication, compassion, intuition, optimism, consistency, and a strong ability to listen. She is committed to helping people feel valued, recognize their worth, understand their role, and gain confidence in their decisions. For Betty, some of the most meaningful moments at STEPS come from helping individuals experience opportunities they once thought were out of reach and watching their confidence, independence, and skills grow.
Outside of work, Betty is a proud mother of two sons, a longtime rugby player, and a scuba diver who enjoys all things water.

Victoria Lomond
Operations Manager, Delaney House
Victoria Lomond has been part of the STEPS on Arthur family for 11 years. As Operations Manager, she helps oversee the organization's day-to-day operations, working alongside staff and management to ensure programs and services run effectively and continue to meet the needs of the people STEPS supports.
Victoria brings more than a decade of experience at STEPS, along with management and leadership experience, community involvement, and strengths in operations, collaboration, problem-solving, and supporting teams through change. She is always looking for ways to improve how the organization works, strengthen the team, and create new opportunities for the individuals STEPS serves.
What Victoria enjoys most about STEPS is the people. She loves seeing individuals discover their abilities, learn new skills, build confidence, and accomplish things they may not have thought possible. She is passionate about recognizing individual strengths, keeping the people STEPS supports at the centre of decisions, and building creative connections between people and community organizations.
Outside of work, Victoria enjoys being involved in her community, spending time with family and friends, taking on projects that leave things better than she found them, and playing backgammon.

Kelly Herron-Jacobs
Finance Manager
Kelly Herron-Jacobs has been part of STEPS on Arthur since July 2007. As Finance Manager, she oversees finance, administration, and human resources, helping ensure the organization has the systems and support needed to carry out its work effectively.
Kelly brings formal education and extensive professional experience in finance, along with the knowledge and perspective gained throughout her career. She enjoys taking on challenges and goals that make a meaningful difference and seeing them through to successful results. Professionally, she values honesty, hard work, and outcomes that demonstrate real progress.
Outside of work, Kelly's family is especially important to her. She is also proud to be a Canadian Armed Forces veteran.

Josie Miller
Operational Support Manager
Josie Miller began her journey with STEPS on Arthur as a summer student in 2021. After gaining experience in a variety of positions, she became a full-time instructor in 2022 and moved into her current role as Operational Support Manager in January 2026.
Josie leads the Utility Workers who help meet production needs, as well as the maintenance team and student placements. A graduate of the NSCC Social Services program, she enjoys being part of positive, active change within the organization. Josie is especially passionate about promoting positive mental wellness for everyone.
Outside of work, Josie enjoys spending time at home on the mountain; whether she is gardening, relaxing with her husband and their dog, or heading out on the side-by-side.

Carla Currie
Community Employment Instructor
Carla Currie has worked at STEPS on Arthur for seven years, contributing to the Cleaning, Clothing, and Community Employment programs. As Community Employment Instructor, she supports clients as they prepare for, obtain, and maintain employment. She also facilitates programming that develops employability skills, builds confidence, and helps clients identify and overcome barriers. An important part of her role is connecting with local employers and building strong community relationships.
Carla holds a diploma in Disability Supports and Services and has 10 years of experience in adult service centres supporting adults with intellectual disabilities. She values the sense of togetherness at STEPS, where clients and coworkers learn, grow, and celebrate one another's accomplishments. Professionally, she is committed to continual growth and consistency.
Outside of work, Carla enjoys family time, the outdoors, horses, and crocheting.

Bonnie Brown
Small Contracts Instructor
Bonnie Brown has been part of STEPS on Arthur for 33 years. She is the instructor for the Small Contracts Program, Bike Club, Pickleball Club, and Music Program. She also helped form the STEPtones, STEPS on Arthur's band.
Bonnie studied Human Services at Holland College in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Over more than three decades at STEPS, she has built meaningful relationships with clients and families and has witnessed many success stories. She is proud of the opportunities STEPS creates and finds it deeply rewarding to support clients' growth, help people become the best they can be, and showcase the many strengths they bring to their community.
Outside of work, Bonnie enjoys biking, travelling, and time at the beach. One adventurous fact about her: she has gone parachuting.

Krista Fogarty
Clothing Sort Instructor
Krista Fogarty has been part of STEPS on Arthur since 2022. As a Clothing Sort Instructor, she supports clothing and jewelry sorting and the preparation of dollar bags and hangers. She oversees supported employment work in clothing, cleaning, and books and facilitates programs in telling time, games, money skills, sign language, and other areas based on individual client goals.
Krista studied at the Institute of Early Childhood Education and brings 20 years of experience as an Educational Assistant in the public school system. She values the relationships built at STEPS and the difference staff can make by giving clients opportunities to try new things.
Outside of work, Krista enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and winter, which is her favourite season.

Lorelei Waller
Ribbons Instructor
Lorelei Waller first came to STEPS on Arthur as a student and has now been part of the organization for 10 years. As a Ribbons Instructor, she supports eight clients whose work includes stamping, stapling, assembling, and packing ribbons for pickup and shipment.
Lorelei completed the Social Services program at NSCC and brings strong organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills to her role. She enjoys supporting the people in her program, watching their confidence grow, and seeing the pride they take in their work. Helping clients experience a sense of purpose and accomplishment each day is especially meaningful to her.
Outside of work, Lorelei enjoys travelling, exploring new places, shopping, and planning family gatherings with her adult children, Jauger and Jaylei. She jokes that she can tell you where every Winners store in Nova Scotia is located.

Shawn Laurie
Contracts Plus Instructor
Shawn Laurie has been part of STEPS on Arthur for five years and serves as the Instructor for the Eastlink program within Contracts Plus. He oversees the Eastlink contract, supporting clients as they work with wires and remotes, sort boxes, and prepare finished products for return to the supplier.
With training in Human Services and Residential Vocational Support from NSCC, Shawn also brings 14 years of experience with Colchester Residential Services Society. He values the opportunity to support clients through employment, recreation, leisure, and life-enhancement activities. Shawn is passionate about creating an environment where people feel supported, valued, and heard, and he finds it especially rewarding to see clients succeed in the goals they are working toward.
Outside of work, Shawn enjoys swimming, beach days, time with family, and being with his senior dog, Cyrus.

Catherine McMaster
Second Used Life Goods Program Instructor
Catherine McMaster has been part of STEPS on Arthur since January 2020. As the Second Used Life Goods Program Instructor, she creates and delivers meaningful programming in areas such as cooking, fishing, personal hygiene, and personal appearance. She also teaches clients the skills needed to work confidently with the public while receiving, sorting, and processing donations, modelling professionalism, communication, teamwork, and responsibility along the way.
Catherine holds a diploma in Early Childhood Education and certification in Applied Behaviour Analysis. She brings 10 years of experience in adult group homes, along with extensive cooking and baking knowledge that she uses to create practical learning opportunities. She values the trusting relationships she has built with clients and finds it rewarding to help them reach goals, develop skills, and grow in confidence and independence.
Family is central to Catherine's life. She enjoys supporting her sons in motocross and hockey, camping, gardening, cooking, cake decorating, crafting, creating costumes, and collecting ugly Christmas sweaters.

Drew Bauer
Café Instructor
Drew Bauer joined STEPS on Arthur in 2025 and serves as a Café Instructor. Drew supports clients in a safe and engaging kitchen environment, assisting with food production, ordering, cash handling, customer service, and the daily tasks that keep the café running efficiently. Drew also leads the garden club and helps clients apply the cooking skills and recipes they learn at STEPS in their own homes.
Drew holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Personal Support Worker certificate and brings five years of experience in a variety of disability-support roles. Drew is passionate about human rights, dignity, and ensuring people can access the support, resources, and basic needs they require. The energy, gratitude, and connections clients bring to STEPS are what Drew enjoys most.
Outside of work, Drew enjoys the arts, hiking, camping, nature, and life with four lively cats.

Mikaela Maxwell
Ribbons Prep Instructor
Mikaela Maxwell has been part of STEPS on Arthur for three and a half years. As the Ribbons Prep Instructor, she oversees several of the first steps in the ribbon-making process, including cutting ribbon and making buttons. She also assists with other stages of production and facilitates programs such as the walking program, book club, self-advocacy committee, and golf club.
Mikaela holds a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Mary's University, with a double major in Psychology and Criminology. Before joining STEPS, she spent two and a half years working with Regional Residential Services Society. She is passionate about helping others and finds it rewarding to see clients build independence and self-confidence while exploring new employment and recreational experiences in the community.
Outside of work, Mikaela enjoys reading, gardening, and making her home and yard her own. She maintains a large backyard vegetable garden.

Lyndi Goulden
Resources Plus Instructor
Lyndi Goulden joined STEPS on Arthur in 2026 and is currently working as the Resources Plus Instructor. In this role, she supports clients outside of employment through life-skills development, recreation, creative pursuits, and self-directed activities. Her programming includes cooking skills, crafts, movement, recreation, and projects shaped by each person's interests and goals.
Lyndi's focus is helping clients enjoy full, meaningful days while working toward goals they have chosen for themselves. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Acadia University and brings experience in youth outreach and employment support. Lyndi is passionate about meeting people where they are, helping them discover their potential, and providing the tools and encouragement they need to move toward their individual goals. She especially values STEPS' commitment to inclusion, empowerment, independence, and personal growth.
Outside of work, Lyndi enjoys spending time with her pet gecko, Scooby.

Johnathan Mattinson
Finance/Administration Clerk
Johnathan Mattinson has worked at STEPS on Arthur for three and a half years. As Finance and Administration Clerk, he supports the organization through bookkeeping, participation on the finance and fundraising committees, general administrative work, and technology support. His role is a varied one, and his attention to detail and technical ability help keep many aspects of the organization running smoothly.
Johnathan holds a Business diploma from NSCC. What he enjoys most about STEPS is getting to know the clients and seeing the positive impact the organization has on their everyday lives.
Outside of work, Johnathan values time with friends, family, and his dog. He enjoys mountain biking, hiking, games, and watching ice hockey.
